Walter Scott is husband and wife team Erica Landon and Ken Pahlow. The name pays homage to two men: Ken’s grandfather Walter and his Nephew Scott. Walter was a flight engineer for Trans World Airlines – hence the aviation styling on the label. Their vision was born in 2008 and the first vintage came in 2009.
Walter Scott has developed quite the cult following with a reputation for superb Pinot Noir and top-of-the-game Chardonnay. Most of their single-vineyard wines are sourced from the Eola-Amity Hills where they call home.
The quest for precision in Chardonnay is evident in the fact that the label produces over a half dozen different Chardonnay selections each year.
The Cuvee Anne is a sort of “reserve” blend of all the sites they work with. It is characterized by bright, fresh, lively acidity and medium-light body. It’s made with excruciating meticulousness, resulting in a slightly reductive style that preserves all the purity of fruit locked within. Notes of kaffir lime, lemon zest, and flinty minerality lead into a bushel of fresh peach and honeyed apricot flavors. Truly a sublime Willamette Valley Chardonnay.
