Mike Merriman started out brewing beer, and a 1997 trip to Oregon State University for a Fermentation Science course serendipitously introduced him to what would become his newest passion: Oregon Pinot Noir.
The very next year he was interning on the crushpad, and in 2006 he purchased an existing vineyard in the Yamhill-Carlton District. The Merriman Wines focus on crafting Estate-grown wines at an approachable price point.
The Chenin Blanc is sourced from a small vineyard in Washington that Mike Merriman found in disrepair and subsequently cleaned up and revitalized. The vines were planted in the early 70’s and yield beautiful, complex fruit with old vine character.
Like a dry Vouvray, this wine is crisp, and clean and has a lovely honesysuckle, beeswax, green apple and birchwood complexity.
More of a food wine than an easy-sipping wine, pair this with seafood, fish, cream sauces or light vegetable-based dishes.
