Harper Voit is the personal label belonging to winemaker Drew Voit. I clarify “personal label” because Drew is a working winemaker for hire” with a list of about a dozen wines that he custom-crafts. All of his projects seem to excel at achieving the balance between great extraction and classical elegance. As such, the wines provide plenty of easy-drinking pleasure factor yet still manage to express the uniqueness of each bottling.
The Huntington Hill Vineyard is in an area of the WIllamette Valley known as the “Perrydale Hills” – just south of the Eola-Amity Hills AVA. Rumor has it that Perrydale Hills will eventually achieve its own “AVA” status in the near future.
From Pinot File:
Moderately dark reddish purple color in the glass. The nose opens nicely over time in the glass, offering an array of charming aromas including boysenberry, plum, chocolate, spice and vanilla. Refined and polished on the palate, blessed with a long and balanced palate of purple berries and spice. Rather seductive with good length on the satisfying finish. Still terrific the following day from a previously opened and re-corked bottle. Score: 92.
