Description
Gramercy Cellars is a Washington wine project by Greg and Pam Harrington, based in Walla Walla. The focus here is to showcase some of the great vineyards of the Columbia Valley, Yakima, and Walla Walla through Rhone and Bordeaux style wines.
The “John Lewis” is 100% Syrah sourced from a single block of the famous Les Collines Vineyard in Walla Walla. It was fermented 100% whole-cluster, partially in concrete tanks. This, along with the impeccable fruit help build a wine with immense power, yet classic floral elegance. The layered complexity in this wine is facemelting. Herbs, flowers, pepper, violets, geranium, bacon fat, plums, axle grease, smoked meat… it just goes on and on. If you can manage to drink this with a lamb dish, I imagine you will be very pleased.
From Robert Parker: “The 2014 Syrah John Lewis is a pretty, perfumed effort that has classic notes of blueberries, spice box, lavender and olives. Medium to full-bodied, structured and tannic, it has nicely integrated acidity, a beautiful mid-palate and a great finish. Forget bottles for 2-3 years and enjoy over the following decade. 95 pts.“
