What better example of Oregon Pinot Blanc could you get than from the producer who grew it first!? The Eyrie Vineyards was the first “modern” winery in the Willamette Valley with first plantings going in back in 1965. Pinot Blanc was one of several varieties founder David Lett tried in his original vineyard and he really liked the results.
Today, Eyrie produces one of the more complex Pinot Blancs, employing sur lie aging to give the wine a nice rounded moutfeel and broad, rich flavors to compliment its natural steelieness. This is a great wine for fish, seafood, salad courses, and can even be aged to bring out more of the rich fatness on the palate.
