The Eyrie Vineyards is the Willamette Valley’s oldest modern winery. Their wines have stood the test of time and their commitment to quality has never wavered in 50+ years. Every Eyrie wine is crafted with through non-intervention with sustainability, ageability, and purity in mind.
The Original Vines are the small block of vines that founder David Lett planted in 1965 thus starting the modern era of the Willamette Valley wine industry. These craggly old things yield bunches of grapes with minuscule berries thus producing wines of unparalleled power and nuance.
The Eyrie Original Vines Pinot Noir is about as iconic and historic of a wine as you’ll find in the United States. The sourcing of this fruit includes the famed “South Block” which were the vines that yielded the wine that turned heads with a top-10 showing in the 1979 Paris Wine Olympics.
From Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
“Lush and fragrant, full-bodied yet in the classic, elegant Eyrie tradition, this bursts with complexity. Bramble, cherries, strawberry preserves, coffee grounds and a hint of root beer come together in a deep, dense and thoroughly delicious wine.” 96 pts.
