It would be difficult to overstate the significance and stature of this wine. Sigrid consistently rates among the greatest Chardonnays of the world and is definitely in contention for the best domestic Chardonnay in America. This wine transcends the silly civil war between the “oaked” and “un-oaked” Chardonnay camps and finds perfection somewhere in the middle. You haven’t lived until you’ve tried this exceptional Chardonnay!
- From the winery:
Our flagship estate Chardonnay which we have proudly produced since 2006, the 2016 Sigrid is a magnificent wine. Sigrid is a blend of our best barrels of Chardonnay from our Biodynamic estate vineyards, most notably; The Bergström Vineyard, Silice and Gregory Ranch.
White gold with a green chlorophyll hue, this 12.7% alcohol Willamette Valley Chardonnay has a very complex aromatic perfume of Meyer lemon, honeysuckle, toasted brioche, citrus flowers, sugar cookie and a sweet tarragon, mint and saffron herbal note. The 2016 Sigrid Chardonnay is saline and salty with fantastic citrus driven acidity with an herbal tea complexity and sweet pastry notes without being a sweet wine and it begs for oysters, lobster or crab as a food pairing.
- From Wine Enthusiast:
Here is top-tier Oregon fruit perfectly handled, so as to express place, variety and winemaker in equal balance. Tree fruits and apple skins, buoyed by a mouthfeel accented with creamy lees, follow up with a light pat of butter. The distinguishing minerality of past vintages is here as well, and as good as ever.
