On a humble property deep in the Dundee Hills, Mo Ayoub built a home and planted a 4 acre vineyard in 2001. Starting in 2004 he began crafting his distinctive style of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Being of Lebanese descent, Mo is a proud family man and a proud producer of incredibly precise wines. His professional background in Engineering has certainly influenced his very exacting approach to wine production.
Today his production has expanded slightly beyond his tiny Estate Vineyard, but total production is still under 1000 cases annually. That makes this a highly sought-after and highly allocated project.
The Brittan Vineyard is situated in the McMinnville AVA where the coastal winds come howling up the Van Duzer Corridor each evening. The wind-blown fruit responds to these harsh conditions by thickening their skins. Thicker skins means more color, more structure, more “oomph.”
The resulting wine is dark and intense with halting tannins and always has this pronounced crushed-rock minerality. It’s a lovely wine, but one that typically needs to accompany food. Think lamb, grilled pork, or even BBQ.
